Every summer, hundreds of youth come to Camp Como for one of our many exciting and impactful camps!
Camp Como’s youth camps are offered through many partnering Christian Churches across the Front Range and the Midwest.
Please check with your church to learn more about their participation in this summer’s programs. We do not register individuals without a host Church. If you are looking to find a Church coming to Camp Como, feel free to reach out to the Camp’s office team.

Everyone feels the effects of less oxygen at 10,000 feet elevation when they are physically active. Some folks develop a headache, and a few people feel nauseous. Symptoms may persist from a few hours to a couple of days. By drinking LOTS of water and taking it easy the first day to acclimate, almost everyone can tolerate the altitude. If you are prone to altitude sickness, your family doctor may be able to prescribe medication to ward off the more unpleasant symptoms of altitude sickness.
The Weather Bureau gives these annual averages for Fairplay which is 10 miles from Camp Como:
Summer – The average July temperatures: (min./max) 41/69 degrees F. Humidity is very low in the mountains; 10% to 25% is common. It makes for a very comfortable climate at 10,000 feet elevation.
Winter – The average January temperatures: (min./max) 9/29 degrees F. The average annual snow fall: 84″.
Please bring plenty of sunscreen as the sun rays are intense at our mountain elevation of 10,125 feet
YES! Camp Como was founded on service, and volunteers of all ages are a big part of the workforce at Camp Como. During the summer, we have a weekly volunteer program for campers called the C.I.A.s. Throughout the year, we have many church-affiliated volunteer groups that come to camp and work on projects involving either building improvements or various outdoor upkeep opportunities on our 240 acres. If you would like to be part of the volunteer ministry, please contact the office at (719) 836-2382.
Sorry, pets are not allowed.
There are nearly 40 independent Christian Churches that own the camp. These churches are called “corporation member churches.” A Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the camp. Camp Como is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
